Hinds Instruments announces a new compact, self-contained and lightweight [link id=306]avalanche photodiode (APD) detector module with high sensitivity and adjustable gain. Signals down to the 5 nW range are detectable using the large active area (19.6 mm2). The footprint for this detector is much smaller than a PMT because it does not require the high voltage power supply, but includes a small ± 12V power supply.
The spectral range for the Hinds APD is 200-1000 nm. As with all Hinds detectors, the APD is optimized for use with high frequency optical signals including those generated in Photoelastic Modulator (PEM) applications. The module is RoHS compliant and CE marked.
