Photoelastic modulator (PEM) technology provides the user, whether you are involved in research or industrial quality control, with a tool for polarization metrology that contains an intrinsically valuable set of features: wide wavelength selection (vacuum UV to FIR), wide acceptance angle (+/- 40 deg.), and high transmission (>99% depending on the set-up). But the crowning characteristics are extreme sensitivity (10-6) combined with high stability and long life (20+ years). These and more PEM features, along with specifications on a broad selection of PEM models, are described in detail below and in the following pages where we make it easy for you to select the model best suited to your application.
