Polarization of Assembled LCD

Liquid crystal displays (LCDs) are modulators of light that create an image through polarization properties. The quality of the image that the LCD will create is dependent upon the polarization properties of both its components and the resulting assembled liquid crystal display.

Hinds Instruments is expert in evaluating polarization properties. For the assembled LCD, we have Stokes polarimeters that describe how the polarization parameters of a light source are altered by passing through the LCD device. Hinds’ polarimeters are unsurpassed in sensitively detecting the polarization as defined by the Stokes parameters, I,Q,U and V. In addition, Hinds sells Mueller polarimeters that can define the entire 16 element Mueller matrix including all the polarization properties of an LCD cell.
