We are pleased to announce the opening of a Sales Engineer I position. The successful candidate will promote and sell equipment to technical customers including world leading glass manufacturers, pharmaceutical researchers, magnetic memory developers, and astronomers/aerospace corporations.



Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering

Highly self-motivated

Strong interpersonal skills

Outgoing personality

Ability to relate to other cultures and be comfortable spending time in other countries

Good writing skills, this includes spelling and grammar

Travel domestically and internationally, ~20%



Knowledge of second language

Knowledge of physics and optics

Knowledge of chemistry or biochemistry

Light website coding (HTML & CSS)

Job duties:

Technical support for Hinds’ components and instruments

Applications support with our customer base

Writing quotes and estimates for orders and repairs

Technical writing for Sales and Marketing materials, this can include Sales Brochures, Webpage copy, print and electronic advertisements, etc.

Tradeshow management

Website maintenance

Sample Measurements and report creation for measurements

Sales and Marketing analytics

Customer Relations Management

The ideal entry-level candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a technical field, be highly self-motivated, have strong interpersonal skills, and cultural sensitivity. The successful candidate will spend several months in a multi-disciplinary training program before undertaking specific product sales responsibility. Ultimately the person hired will join the sales team for Hinds polarization measurement systems and components and be the technical interface between internal departments and customers. The position is located in Hillsboro, Oregon, but will require extensive domestic and international travel.
